Rush Delano LaFon, 89, of Wilmington, NC died peacefully in his home on January 20, 2024. He was born in Huntington, WV on January 16, 1935, to Charles Taylor and Mary Jane LaFon. Rush attended Cabell County Public Schools before going to work at the Huntington Herald-Dispatch. In 1968 he moved to Wilmington, NC to take a job as the mailing room foreman at the Wilmington Star News before a career change took him to General Electric Corporation in Castle Hayne, NC in 1972. He retired in 1997 after 27 years of service with the company.

Rush was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Geneva Blankenship LaFon, and is survived by his daughter, Vickie Afflegje of Orange Park, FL and his two sons, Artie and Darren LaFon of Rocky Point NC, along with many grand and great- grandchildren.

A memorial service for family and friends will be planned for a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org or the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org in the name of Rush and Geneva LaFon.
