Russell Carl Palmer, 57 of Wilmington passed away peacefully at his home February 28, 2014.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Dawn Palmer, his father, Kenneth Donald Palmer, a brother, James Michael Palmer, and a sister in law Gloria Palmer.

Survivors to cherish his memory include his mother, Janie Ferguson Palmer, a brother, Donny Jerome Palmer and wife Marcia, a sister, Debra Palmer Brown and husband Donald, nephews Michael Palmer and wife Teresa, James (JJ) Palmer and wife Nancy, Jared Brown and Joel Brown, and nieces Jana Palmer and Christina Palmer, great nieces and nephews Gabrielle Palmer, Janie Palmer, Anthony Palmer and Hunter Brown, four aunts, cousins and best friend Randy Moose.

Russell was a 1975 graduate of New Hanover High School and received a degree in Diesel Mechanics from Cape Fear Technical Institute. He was a mechanic at heart, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, loved his dogs and all other wildlife, and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend and especially enjoyed his great nieces and nephews, never missing nor considering himself too old for their birthday parties. He had a generous heart, and was always willing to lend and help others when the need arose.

We thank God for the allotted time He gave us with Russell, and will always cherish his memory.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Bradley Creek Chapel. Family will receive friends after the service.
