Ruth Gavin Ezzell, 90, left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Friday, December 8, 2023.

She was born on October 1, 1933, in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late David and Clell Carr Gavin.  Mrs. Ezzell was also preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Ezzell Spell, grandson Brad Spell; siblings, Christine Gavin, Elwood Gavin, Bobby Gavin and jimmy Gavin and special niece Deborah Herring.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter Carla Ezzell Hudson and special friend Junior Sykes; granddaughter, Shannon Spell Tew; grandson Trey Hudson; great granddaughter Kathy Lou Spell; great grandsons Isiah Devan Tew and Collin Hudson; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ruth, as she known to everyone, was a loving mother and caring grandmother who loved her children dearly.  She was a simple woman who enjoyed the simplest things in life, but her great joy was her family.  Ruth was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, " an instrument of God's love on this earth."  She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her.  Ruth will surely be missed but treasuered memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Wells Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Wallace, NC.
