Obituary

Ruth Armstrong Jackson, 88, of Charlotte and formerly of Rocky Point died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Woodlawn Haven Rest Home in Mt. Holly.

She was born October 28, 1921 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Richard J. and Ruth Elizabeth Simpson Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Franklin Jackson in 1999 and an infant son, James Lee Futch.

Ruth was a member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church and attended Shady Brook Baptist Church in Charlotte until she entered Woodlawn Haven Rest Home.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas H. and Betty Futch of Charlotte; grandchildren, Kimberly Ford (Max, Thomas H Futch II (Laura), and Mark Futch (Penny); great grandchildren, Noah Peter Futch and Ella Grace Futch; brother, R. J. Armstrong of Louisiana; sister, Eleanor Gerganous of Rocky Point; nieces, Debbie Ashe (Wayne) and Pam Stoehr (Gary); nephew, Buddy Gerganous (Tammy) and several great nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a strong willed, hard working Southern lady who loved her family and always kept her steadfast faith in the Lord. She loved being outdoors in God's beautiful world cutting her own grass and making unique flower gardens until her health began to decline. Her family, her church and her friends were her life. Cherished memories of Ruth will always remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, December 18, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Love officiating.

Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.

Casketbearers will be Tom Futch II, Max Ford, Mark Futch, Wayne Ashe, Gary Stoehr and Richard Gerganous. Honorary bearers will be Richard Andrew Gerganous and Danile Ray Gerganous.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m., one hour prior the service at the funeral home.
