Sadie Cavenaugh Jordan, age 88, of Burgaw died Monday, June 1, 2009 at her home.

She was born March 8, 1921 in Pender County, the daughter of the late John and Alma Estelle Rivenbark Cavenaugh. She was also predeceased by her husband, Roy Lee Jordan; sons, Raymond Lee Jordan and Zeblin G. Jordan, Sr.; one grandson; sister, Ruth C. Harris and brothers, Felton Cavenaugh and Lawrence "Sambo" Cavenaugh.

Surviving are her loving and devoted family; daughter, Linda Webber of Waterville, Maine; son, Rodney G. Jordan, Sr. of Burgaw; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Emily J. Postl of Warren, Michigan; brothers, Larry Cavanaugh of Wilmington and John H. Cavenaugh of Burgaw and many nieces and nephews.

Sadie was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She created a home filled with love, warmth and sunshine, always cooking and caring for her family. Forever remembered will be her tender smile, generous heart and steadfast faith in her Lord.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Hill Pearsall officiating.

Burial will follow in Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Ray Jordan, Jimmy Jordan, Greg Jordan, Justin Valade, Gilven Jordan, Daniel Jordan, Jeff McPherson, and Dee Jordan.

Honorary bearers will be Josh Bradshaw, Patrick Jordan, Andrew Jordan and Zachary Jordan.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.
