Sadie M. Lanier, age 91, of High Point and formerly of Rose Hill, NC left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, June 30, 2016.

She was born on January 22, 1925 and was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Penny Pierce Murphy. She was also predeceased by her devoted husband, Jody Wilson "J.W." Lanier, Jr.; her sisters, Ruth Murphy, Ruberta Murphy and Bertie Estelle Murphy.

She was a life-long dedicated member of Bethel Wesleyan Church in Rose Hill, NC.

Surviving is her devoted daughter and husband, Cindy L. and Roland Cavanaugh of Thomasville, NC; special friends, Doris Teachey and the late Norwood Teachey and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved Sadie.

Sadie was a loving wife and caring mother and sister who loved her family dearly. She was a hard worker and a great homemaker who filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Sadie was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace; an instrument of God's love on this earth. She was kind, good hearted and always willing to help anyone in need. As a family member said, "Her good nature and commonsense approach to life was so comforting in a world gone crazy." Sadie's family is grateful to God for her life and the Christian example she lived. Sadie will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Sadie's life will be at 11:00am on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am, one hour prior the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends other times at the home of Geraldine Creech.

Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha.
