Obituary

Sallie Elizabeth Watson, age 84, of Magnolia, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 9, 1926 in Jones County; daughter of D.L. and Annie Frances Monet Jenkins. She was also predeceased by her husband, James Thomas "Jack" Watson; three brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Watson was a member of Wallace Baptist Tabernacle in Teachey. She was owner and operater of Watson's Grocery and Grill, located at Brice's Crossroads in Magnolia for over 3o years. Those who frequented her store found more than just a good meal or a cold drink. They always found a warm smile and listening ear. She will be especially remembered as "a friend to all".

She is survived by her children, Linda Kay Futrell (Bobby) of Burgaw, Tony Watson (Jean) of Houston, TX, Teresa Green (Jerry) of Elizabethtown and Pete Watson (Berta) of Magnolia; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sister, Marie Kennedy of Jacksonville and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, January 14, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. Larry Brown and the Rev. Jerry Green officiating.

Burial will follow in Watson Family Cemetery, Trinity Church Road in Magnolia.

Casketbearers will be the grandsons of Mrs. Watson.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and other times at the home of Pete Watson.
