Sandra Lee Backus Chincarini, age 69, gently passed from her earthly life Thursday night, August 15, 2024, at her home in Rocky Point.

She was born April 29, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Thomas Cory Backus, Jr. and Doris Mason Backus.

Sandra is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Christopher Hoffman; granddaughter, Jayden Hoffman; sisters, Linda McLeod and Deborah Lichtenberg (Michael); brother, Victor Backus (Janice); several nieces and nephews; many extended family members and friends.

For many years Sandra was a dedicated elementary school teacher in Baltimore Maryland.  After retirement Sandra moved to North Carolina, living with Tracey, Christopher and Jayden where she was loved and well cared for.

Sandra was a true "homebody". She enjoyed her special TV shows, and she kept her mind sharp playing games on the computer. Sandra enjoyed her trips to the beach, especially the beautiful sunsets. First and foremost, Sandra loved her family.
