Sandra Kay Mercer Sanders, age 64, of Watha died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at her residence.

She was born April 21, 1947 in West Virginia and was the daughter of the late John Henry and Carrie Fuller Mercer. She was also predeceased by her husband, Paul Sanders and brother, David Mercer.

Surviving is her loving daughter, Tammy Howard and husband, Bruce of Wallace; grandson, Bruce "B.J." Howard, Jr.; sisters, Betty Rochell and husband, Bob of Swansboro, Patsy Brewer of Swansboro and Melinda McCann of Kinston; brother, Richard Mercer and wife, Brenda of Greensboro and her two special canine Yorkie friends, "Bob" and "Trinity".
