Sandra Smith Wheeler, age 72, of Harrells passed from this life to her eternal rest on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

Born on March 21, 1947, in Sampson  County, Sandra was the daughter of the late Wilbert Lee and Anita Joyce Blackburn Smith.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Jimmy Ray Wheeler (2017) and her brother, Danny Smith.

Sandra was employed with Walmart of  Wallace for numerous years.

She is survived by her children, Michael Glenn Wheeler  and  wife, Jenell of Magnolia and Danny Ray Wheeler of Harrells; grandchildren, Phillip Andrew "Drew" Wheeler and Joseph Glenn Wheeler; great grandchildren, Kenley Grace Wheeler and Brody Hunt; sister, Pamela S. Shepard and husband, Roger of Bolivia (formerly of Wallace) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends that loved Sandra dearly.

Sandra was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She was funny and was such a great joy to be around.  With an outgoing personality, she never met a stranger.  Sandra was small in stature but had a great big heart.  Her favorite pastime was watching westerns and drinking Sprite.  Most of all, Sandra loved the Lord and she read her Bible every day.  She will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Sammy Shepard officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
