Sara Cleo Brumble died on Monday, January 10, 2022 just after her 98th birthday with prayers from her family. She was born January 1, 1924 in Johnston County, the daughter of John Henry Ferrell and Alonia Cockrell Ferrell. Cleo and her husband Major L. Brumble lived all of their married life in Wilmington. While living in Wilmington, Cleo was a faithful member of Pearsall Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities in her years of attendance. She retired from First Union Mortgage Company in Wilmington. She took great pride in being a member of American Business Women's Association.

In addition to her husband and parents, Cleo was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Cleo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, LaVonne B. and Leddell Casey; granddaughter, Barbara C. Medlin and husband, Anthony; great granddaughter, Casey Lynn Medlin; numerous nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed gardening, dancing, and spending time crocheting and knitting with the New Hanover County RSVP Group. They made beanie caps for newborn babies at NHRMC.

Cleo was lovingly given the name of Grandma by Barbara and Nana by Casey. Her granddaughter and great granddaughter were near and dear to her heart and blessings in her life. Cleo was known for her kind, sweet spirit and quick wit.  Her family will surely miss her but are comforted by God's word and assurance of eternal life.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Pender County Shrine Club, For: Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 84, Rocky Point, NC 28457.
