Sara Jackson Sykes, 72, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 12, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on October 13, 1942, to the late Andrew Murray Jackson and Mary Etta Batten Jackson. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Lonnie S. Sykes and a brother, Robert Jackson.

She is survived by her children Eddie Sykes, Gary (Priscilla) Sykes, Robert Sykes, Donna (Tony) Maldonado and Faith Sykes all of Leland, NC. Also surviving are her grandchildren Logan, Drake and Isabella Maldonado, Clara (Bobby) Powers and Mark Sykes, one great-granddaughter, Remington Powers. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Todd, of Leland, NC, and Mildred (Walter) Bass of Fayetteville, NC. Also, her passing is felt by many nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Sara was a faithful member of The Wilmington First Church of the Nazarene for many years. Her love for God vastly showed through the life she lived and her testimony. Next to God, she loved her family unconditionally and was an example for her children to follow.

Pallbearers are Drake and Logan Maldonado, Doug Bass, Danny Malpass, Keith and Ricky Todd.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home and other times at the home. Funeral will be 11am, Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the funeral home with Rev. Derrell Clark officiating. Burial will be at Cape Fear Baptist Cemetery, Riegelwood, NC.
