Sarah Estelle Ricks, 79, of Rocky Point passed gently from her earthly life on Thursday, May 02, 2013 at her home.

She was born May 18, 1933 in Oxford, the daughter of the late Zack E. and Jennie Sarah Slaughter Franklin. Also remembered is her husband, Arthur Ricks, Jr.; son, Fred Ricks; daughter, Sarah Bailey; three brothers and four sisters, all who preceded Sarah in death.

Sarah is survived by her sons, John Ricks (Barbara), Art Ricks (Ginny) and Robert Ricks; grandchildren, Claven Melton, Tricia Roberts, Lauren Ricks, Crystal Smythe, Kara Ricks, Niki Johnson, and Karrie Millis; great grandchildren, Maci Ricks, Sydnee Ricks, Kaddie Millis and Kayla Millis; sister, Frances Leary and many extended family.

Sarah became an Licensed Practical Nurse in Florida and later completed her nursing degree at U.N.C.W. For many years she worked as a Registered Nurse at Pender Memorial Hospital.

Sarah Estelle Ricks was a wonderful mom, loving wife caring for her family with the mother's touch that God blessed her with. She was truly a blessing to all who knew her.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Billy Fowler officiating.
