Saundra Joann Weeks, 75, of Rocky Point died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

She was born September 3, 1937 in Jane Lew, WV, the daughter of the late Fay Edward and Elizabeth Ramsburg Hollen. On February 3, 1957 Joann was married to Joseph C. Weeks, who preceded her in death in March of 2001.

Joann is survived by a son, Joseph C. Weeks II of Rocky Point; daughter, Jennifer C. Hoyt (Larry) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Zachary Hoyt, Kirsten Hoyt both of Lexington, SC and Sierra Weeks of Crozet, VA; brother, Gary L. Hollen (Dolores "Lolita") of Brandon, FL; and nephews, Michael Hollen and David Hollen both of Middletown, DE.

Joann worked for several years as a retail sales merchandiser for a major food company. She and her husband retired and moved from Maryland to North Carolina in 1996. Being an avid reader, Joann belonged to a book club. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, did volunteer work at a nursing home, and often played Canasta with a group of friends. Joann was a member of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading her Bible daily.

A Celebration of Life will be 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home in Rocky Point.
