Shawn Michael Newman, age 16, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from his residence.

He was born June 23, 1994 in Wilmington and was the son of Victoria Newman O'Neal of Wallace and the late Gerald Biggers. He was also predeceased by his great grandmother, Evelyn Hanchey.

Surviving in addition to his loving mother are his brothers, Kevin Williams of Wallace and Victor Newman of Corpus Christi, Texas; maternal grandmother, Celia Horne of Wallace; great grandfather, George "Pete" Hanchey of Wallace; uncle, Charles Newman of Burgaw; cousins, Danielle Marie Newman, Brandon Blaze Newman, Kristopher Charles Newman and Mary Beth Evans and numerous friends that he loved dearly.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel.

Burial will follow in Hanchey Family Cemetery, Wallace.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, April 22, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his mother, Victoria O'Neal.

Shawn was a fun-loving, energetic young man who loved life. With an outgoing and witty personality, he was loved by all who knew him. Shawn enjoyed spending time with family and hanging out with his friends. To him, no one was a stranger. Shawn was loved and will be greatly missed. Cherished memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved Shawn.
