Obituary


Sherry Carolyn Adams, 55, of Newport News, Virginia died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at University of Virginia Medical Center following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born January 12, 1953 in Burgaw, North Carolina to Russell and Carolyn Adams.
Sherry's tour of duty in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman was the beginning of her nursing career. She will always be remembered for her wit, compassion and love for children and animals. Sherry was a member of Centerville Baptist Church in Kelly, North Carolina.
Survivors include her mother, Carolyn Castleberry; a brother Russell Adams and his wife, Terry; two sisters, Rhonda Miller and her husband Danny and Sibyl Hale and her husband, Terry; nieces, Shannon Couper, Jamie Rink, Jennifer Adams and Taylor Hale; nephews, Cory Hale and Chris Adams as well as her extended family and friends who loved her very much. Sherry is also survived by her beloved dogs, Chesney and Scooter, who she referred to as her "boys".
Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Russell Adams and her stepfather, Jack Castleberry.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, February 15 at 2:00pm at Haw Bluff Baptist Church in Kelly, North Carolina.
Celebration of Sherry's life will be held Friday, February 15 at 3:00pm at Haw Bluff Baptist Church in Kelly with the Rev. Jack Miller and Rev. Richard Wade officiating.
Burial will follow in Haw Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Adams would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Laurel Rice, Beth Jaeger-Landis and the staff of University of Virginia Medical Center for the excellent care and compassionate support that was given to Sherry and them during her illness.
