Shirley Malpass Harts, 85, of Burgaw passed peacefully from her earthly life Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Pender Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 7, 1934 in Pender County, the daughter of W J Malpass and Annie Malpass. In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Richard Henry Harts, Jr.; and brothers, Jessie Malpass, William "Bill" Malpass and Daniel "Dan" Malpass.
Shirley is survived by her sons, William R. "Willie" Harts and Gregory W. "Greg" Harts and his wife, Robin; grandchildren, Crystal Wainright (Nick), Kelley Griffin (Brent), and Amanda Shea Harts; great grandchildren, Casey, Abby, Grayson, Ava and M.J.; special friend, Wanda Futch; many extended family and friends.
For many years Shirley was a member of Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church.
First and foremost, Shirley lived a giving and sharing Christian life. Being a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Shirley created a home filled the sunshine, warmth, and good cooking. Shirley's was so proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly. Born with a caregiving nature, Shirley cared for many folks, including two of her brothers. Not to be forgotten are all the cats, dogs and all God's creatures that Shirley took under her wing. Shirley's greatest joy in life was loving and serving her Lord and her beloved family.
Mask will be required. Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Pike Creek Cemetery where Shirley will be laid to rest beside her husband. Pastor Kenny Chinn and Pastor Rob Strickland will conduct the service. Following the service, the family will have a time greeting people at the cemetery and at other times will be at the home of Greg and Robin Harts, 7212 Courtney Pines Road, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be given to Alzheimer's Association, 5171 Glenwood Ave., #101, Raleigh, NC 27615 or to American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family by selection Tribute Wall.
