Shirley Colvin Robinson, age 68, of Atkinson and formerly of Kelly passed gently from this earth to her eternal rest on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 20, 1942 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late James Floyd and Doris Croom Colvin. Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Carroll Robinson; brother, James "Butch" Colvin, Jr. and brother-in-law, Carl W. Horrell.

Shirley is survived by her twin sister, Julia C. Horrell of Atkinson; sister-in-law, Kathleen Colvin of Wilmington; uncles, Jim Croom of Atkinson and Henry M. Croom of Wilmington; nieces, Connie Benton, Katie Cromartie, Teresa McCormick, Lisa Blackburn and nephews, Ronnie Young and Billy Mishoe.

Shirley was a member of Haw Bluff Baptist Church. Shirley's family loved her and cared for her during her battle with cancer. Shirley was gentle spoken with a steadfast faith and a warm and generous heart. The twinkle in her eyes and her sweet smile will always be remembered.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Colvin Family Cemetery, 1496 Longview Rd., Kelly, NC 28448 with Pastor Steve Gasque officiating.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
