Shirley Wilson, age 79, of Wilmington, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed from her earthly life on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at her home. For over a decade Shirley along with her dedicated Duke physicians miraculously dealt with a number of different cancers.
She was born April 14, 1944 in Durham, North Carolina.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Randall "Randy" Edward Wilson, Sr.; son Randall Edward "Eddie" Wilson, Jr. (Lara); daughters, Patricia "Patti" Wilson Hulcher (Clay) and Lisa Meredith Lamb; grandchildren, Aiden Lawson, Melanie Zelaya, Randall E. Wilson III, Patrick Zelaya, Katie Wilson, Mary Wilson, Virginia Hulcher, Olivia Hulcher, Wade Hulcher, Kaitlyn O'Steen and Camryn O'Steen; son-in-law, Steve Lawson; and many caring friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Wilson Lawson.
She was a member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church in Rocky Point, NC.
Shirley was a most caring, giving lady who loved the Lord, her family and friends. She was the perfect example of the fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Shirley's grandchildren were bright and shining joys in her life; she loved them dearly. For fun Shirley enjoyed cross stitching, golf and many crafts. She was a Stephen Leader of Stephen Ministries and served on the Board of Directors of Yahweh Center and Kelly House.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Dr. Joey Faucette will conduct the service. Interment will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Women of Hope, 1642 South 41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403.
