Shirley Marie Johnson Zane, 78, of Teachey and formerly of New Jersey died Tuesday at Azalea Health and Rehab.

She was born October 2, 1937 in Pennesville, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Stancliff Johnson. She was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Johnson and William "Bill" Johnson.

Surviving is her daughter, Karen Schaller and husband, Emil of Leland; sons, Isaac "Ike" Zane and wife, Patti of Pittsgrove, NJ and Lewis "Lee" Zane of also of Pittsgrove, NJ; grandchildren, Jennifer Wert and husband, Mike, Jeff Schaller and wife, Elizabeth, Michael Zarin and partner, Jon Baglivo, Andrea Blanton and husband, Jeridith and Erin Davis and husband, Jay; great grandchildren, Tyler Zane Blanton, Madison Wert, Collin Davis and Luke and Aiden Schaller; brothers, Robert "Bob" Charles Johnson and wife, Kay of California and Dale Johnson and wife, Heidi of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family. She enjoyed the simple things in life but her greatest pastime was reading and she would read several books a week. With a heart full of love and compassion, she was a lover of animals. There was never an animal that came to Shirley that was turned away. She would feed them,care for them and many times she would have them sleeping in her room at night and on cold days. Dogs, especially knew that she would take care of them. Shirley was also an avid Elvis Presley fan. She collected many items of Elvis throughout the years and cherished each of them. Shirley was a kind hearted person who was willing to serve others. Shirley will be fondly remembered and missed.

At Shirley's request she will be cremated with no services.
