Stanley Edward Gruberger, age 81, of Willard passed from his earthly life Friday, April 21, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born May 26, 1941 in Bronx, New York, the son of Samuel E. Gruberger and Margie Zupa Gruberger.

Stanley is survived by his daughters, Nina Moulton, Michelle Gruberger (Bill Dougherty), Margaret Russo (Rusty), and Laurie Jean Gruberger; grandchildren, Katelynn Vachris (Trevor), Alyssa Rockwell (Charles), and Cameron Russo; two great grandsons, Cole and Levi.

When young and living in New York, Stanley joined the US Marine Corps and was immediately sent South to the Marine Air Station at Cherry Point, NC. Stanley proudly served in the US Marine Corps for four years, two of which were in Vietnam.

Stanley was a people person with a dynamic personality. He enjoyed dock fishing in the river at Castle Hayne, loved all sports, and was a collector of many things. Playing the lottery consumed some of his time and it is said he frequently won a bundle. Most of all he was a good Dad and Granddaddy, loving his family.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Merrell McKoy conducting the service. The family will receive friends following the service.
