Stanley Gurganious, 70, of Long Creek Community, Rocky Point went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 15, 1939 in Pender County, the son of the late Odell and Annie Mae Malpass Gurganious. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Gurganious and sister, Pearl Coon.

Stanley is survived by his loving family; his wife of 46 years, Glenda Woodell Gurganious of the home; son, Steve Gurganious of Wilmington; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Johnny Whitley of Wilmington; and sister, Shelva Gurganious Byrd of Wilmington.

He was a faithful member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church. Everyone knew how Stanley loved to work; he was Vice President of Woodell Foods, employed many years with Ideal Cement and was a Pender County farmer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand in the Long Creek Community which he dearly loved.

Stanley was a devoted husband and loving daddy, brother, uncle and friend. He loved the outdoors and being in God's beautiful world as he spent many treasured hours hunting. His contagious smile, warm personality, and love of family will be treasured and always remembered.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Riley's Creek Baptist Church with The Rev. Melvin Hall and The Rev. Brock Tharpe officiating.

Burial will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Lowell Mercer, Jim Lotts, Eddie Gurganious, Russell Byrd, Wayne Gurganious and Mike Helms.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Monday in the church fellowship hall prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Riley's Creek Baptist Church, 19845 NC Hwy 210, Rocky Point, NC 28425 or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr, Wilmington NC 28401.
