Stanley Hazzard, Jr., 69, of Wilmington left his earthly residence to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2012 after battling a long illness.

He was born February 26, 1942 in Chester, PA and was the son of the late Stanley and Minnie Hazzard.

Stan served his country proudly and honorably in the US Marine Corps.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 48 years, Arlene Blake Hazzard of the home; his loving children, Steven Hazzard of Greenville, SC, Kimberly Satorre of Wilmington, Julie McKeithan of Costa Rica, Stanley Hazzard III of Greenville, SC and Phyllis Couch of Little River, SC; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Gateway Church, 4815 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington with Pastor Jay Young officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Bradley Creek Chapel in Wilmington.

Stan was a loving husband and caring father and grandfather. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family. Stan will be remembered for his love for his family, his zest for life and his steadfast faith in God.
