Obituary

Early Tuesday morning, November 1, 2022 Stephen "Steve" Victor Crews, 68 years old, peacefully went to be with Jesus.

Steve was born June 12, 1954 in Burgaw was the son of the late Elbert Victor Crews and Virginia Crews Bradshaw.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Debbie Wells Crews; children, Stephanie Crews (Tracy Crews), Jeremy Crews (Sara), and Samantha Nave (Michael); grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Arabella, Baila, Calista, Zayden, Yohsiah, Davina, Xane, Elizabeth, Emma, and Joseph; brothers, Wayne Crews (Brenda) and Glenn Crews (Diane); sisters, Jane Johnson (Johnnie) and Rosa Downey (Shawn); many nieces, nephews and friends.

Steve worked 33 years in Civil Service on base at Camp Lejeune, retiring in 2011 as utility supervisor. The last 11 years, he worked at Topsail Greens in Hampstead as a utility contractor. Christian faith being foremost in Steve's life, he was an ordained minister and served as a youth pastor number of years in Wilmington and Wallace. Currently Steve and Debbie have been attending Unity Christian Church.

Steve celebrated his life to the utmost fullness, living life with kindness, faith and strength. Not only was Steve a beloved husband and a wonderful daddy, brother, and uncle, but a generous friend to all who knew him. Music was a big part of the Crews family life. They sang and recorded songs together, prayed together, laughed and cried together. Steve's family was blessed to share his life for 68 years. He will be missed beyond measure.

A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Watha Tabernacle, 54 Camp Kirkwood Road, Watha/Willard. Pastor Clint Jones will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
