Stephen "Steve" Wayne Merritt, 69, of Rocky Point passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, at his home.

He was born April 30, 1955, in Wilmington, the son of Rosie Price Merritt Lewis and the late Aubrey Norman Merritt.

In addition to his mother Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda Dickens Merritt; sons, Stephen Wayne Merritt, Jr. and Gaspin Anthony Merritt; granddaughter, Chloe Isabella Merritt; sister, Lisa Myrick (Rocky); brothers, Norman Merritt (Fran) and Tony Merritt; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Steve was manager of the service department for several automotive dealerships in North Carolina. Many may remember Steve at Shaffer Buick and BMW in Wilmington.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially football and cheering on his favorite teams. Best all Steve was a family man, a devoted husband and loving daddy, son, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. Fond memories of Steve will be cherished.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Victory Christian Fellowship, 12646 US Hwy 117, Rocky Point, NC. Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rocky Myrick conducting the service.
