Steven Dale Yopp, age 47, of Burgaw died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born August 8, 1962 in New Hanover County, the son of the late Allen and Janice Yopp.

Surviving are his fiancee, June Yates; his sons, James Yopp of Castle Hayne and Justin Yopp (Samantha Christie) of Leland; granddaughter, Kali Rae Yopp; step-son, C.J. Yates of Washington; step-daughter, Samantha Yates of Raleigh; brother, Randy Yopp of Wilmington; sisters, Janice Lawhorn and Debbie Godwin both of Wilmington; many extended caring family; and numerous friends.

Steve was employed for many years with Mundy Construction Company.

Steve loved his family, June and his friends. With his outgoing personality and cheerful smile he was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. Being an avid hunter, Steve enjoyed being outdoors in God's beautiful world. He was a hard worker, never idle, always busy doing something. Cherished memories of Steve will forever remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
