Stewart "Buddy" Franklin Bowers, Jr., 64, of Currie died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

He was born May 24, 1948 in Wilmington, the son of Joyce Hinton Bowers of Currie and the late Stewart F. Bowers, Sr.

In addition to his mother, Buddy is survived by his wife, Sherry Bowers; daughter, Jennifer King (Chris) of Currie; grandchildren, Chance and Camille King; sister, Kaye B. Nobles (Marvin "Buck") of Currie; two nephews and two great nephews.

Many will remember Buddy as a General Contractor in Wilmington for many years.

Buddy had a way with people, and no matter where he was or how long he was there, he always made many friends along the way. He had a great sense of humor, was a good friend to many and was a generous man. Buddy found great pleasure in NASCAR racing, rock-n-roll music and in years past, fishing. He had many skills, one of which was building most anything. Buddy will be greatly missed, and we will cherish our memories of him forever.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Alton Watkins officiating.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home until hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
