Obituary

Susan Batts Adkins passed through the veil to her Heavenly Father on Monday, July 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents James William Batts and Hannah Garland Hatcher Batts and siblings James Rudy Batts and Barbara Ann Batts.

Susan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wallace Branch. She served faithfully in the various callings throughout her life. Her most favorite was Family History Specialist. Susan received the love of family history from her parents especially her daddy.

Susan was loving wife and caring mother, grandmother, sister and a true friend to so many.  She loved people and  was loved in return.  She never met a stranger.  Susan enjoyed working at Wallace Elementary for 23 years as receptionist. She was the 'school mom' for many staff members. After retiring Susan loved her volunteer service at the Blessings Store in Wallace where she loved her co-volunteers. Susan was a true servant and served others in her community.  When Susan was able she was an excellent cook and baker. She mastered most of her mom's special recipes and hosted family dinners as long as her health allowed. Susan will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who and knew and loved her.

Susan is survived by her loving soulmate and caregiver Norman R Adkins Jr.  They were married 41 years as of July 24, 2023.  Their children are Elizabeth Hoxie and husband Chandler and Charlie Adkins and wife Jovonna. Their grandchildren are Ophelia Adkins, Oliver Adkins, Hannah Hoxie, and a new little Hoxie coming in 2024; sisters Judy Batchelor and Kathy Rivenbark; brother, Mark Batts and wife Denise; cousin JoAnne Hall who has been her best friend since childhood.
