Susan Barnhill Pender, age 67, passed gently from her earthly life Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

She was born June 14, 1956 in Pender County, the daughter of Carl Barnhill and Tressa Orr, who both preceded Susan in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Harris; sons, Ronnie Harris, Barry Barnhill, and Mark Pender, Jr.; grandchildren, Nautica Robinson, James Barnhill, Joe Harris III, Stephen Harris, Alexander Robinson, Jamarcus Pender, Lyndsey Barnhill, and Armani Pender; great granddaughter, Anyla Robinson; brothers, Joe Barnhill (Dalene), David Barnhill, and Robert Barnhill (Peggy); sisters, Jeanette Jackson, Kimberly Dickens, Melissa Robinson (Mike); and many extended family and friends.

Many remember Susan at the Scotchman Store in Burgaw as she was a manager there for over 16 years. At work and in her daily life Susan treated everyone with kindness and respect.

Susan had a sunshiny smile that always made you feel special and happy. Regardless of how she felt she always had that smile. Susan had a wide circle of friends from all walks of life, made no difference to her whether you were rich or poor. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful friend. She will surely be missed.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
