Sylvia Squires Davis, 70, our beloved mother, grandmother, cousin, friend, and God's faithful servant was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

She was born May 17, 1951 in Pender County, the daughter of James Melton and Mavis Flynn Squires. In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Dennis Davis.

Sylvia is survived by sons, Ira Glenn Davis and Jeffery Scott Davis; daughter, Shannon Davis; grandchildren, Cassandra Margus (Matthew) and Dakota Davis; and many other family members and friends.

For over 25 years, Sylvia worked with the Kelly Rescue Squad. She was a faithful member of Centerville Baptist Church where she served in many capacities.

Sylvia's journey on earth was a life well lived. Her years were filled with an abiding love for the Lord, family, and friends. Sylvia was very creative and did her utmost with anything she undertook. She was a gifted poet with two books of inspirational poetry published. Cancer would rob us with more time with Sylvia on earth, however her graciousness, kindness, good heart, and sweet spirit are a lasting legacy that will be remembered by those who knew her best.

The family will receive friends 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Centerville Baptist Church with memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Pastor Allan Murray will conduct the service.
