Sylvia Ann Hanchey, 64, of Wilmington went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 5, 2014.

She was born October 31, 1949 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Olivia Jordan Lyon and Walter Bryant Hanchey.

Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory a sister, Sue Tysinger (Andy); a dear cousin, Carol; close friends, Carol, Linda and Mike; and many extended family and friends.

She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in physical therapy. Ann worked in her chosen field for 28 years, most of those being at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital where she found joy in rehabilitating her patients.

Ann was a member of the Azalea Coast Doll Club and Winter Park Baptist Church. She loved her ladies and prayer warriors of the M & M's Bible study group at the church.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the church on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. until hour of the service.

A special thank you to Ann's many doctors and staff; especially Dr. W. Gajewski and Malinda; Dr. R. McCarthy and Dr. P. Maggiore. Also appreciation to the staff at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove, who became Ann's adopted family, especially Carlie and Meredith. In more recent days thanks for the loving care of the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.
