Obituary

Taft Glenn Gideon, 74, of Wallace passed from this earthly life to his eternal rest on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Glenn was born on March 22, 1948, in New Hanover County; the son of the late Taft and Rena Grooves Gideon.  He was also predeceased by his siblings, Solon Gideon, Vernell Futrell, Ray Gideon and Pete Gideon.

Glenn served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a dedicated member of Poston Baptist Church where he played the guitar.

Surviving to cherish his memory is best friend and wife of 45 years, Brenda Boone Gideon; his daughters, Natalie Gideon of TN and Tammy G. Sholar and husband, Jason of Wallace; son, Jeremy Gideon and wife, Natalie of Teachey; grandchildren, John Scott Robinson, Jamie Taylor Robinson, Zachary Sholar, Alexander Sholar, Caleb Sholar, Hallie Sholar, Kamdyn Gideon, Taft Gideon, Ellison Gideon and Lennon Gideon; great granddaughter, Juliette Sholar; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Glenn dearly.

Glenn was a devoted husband and caring father and grandfather who loved his family with all his heart.  He was a simple man who enjoyed simple things such as fishing, hunting and carpentry.  Glenn loved to sing and play the guitar and unlike most men, he loved to go shopping.  With a witty personality, Glenn loved to laugh and to make others laugh with him.  He was big on traditions and wanted to keep them as much as possible.  Most of all, Glenn loved his family, especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed going to their ballgames and any other activities they were doing.  Glenn loved the Lord, his family and his church. He will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved Glenn.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. on July 5, 2022 at Poston Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Jarman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Wallace Christian Academy, 4121 S NC Hwy 11, Wallace, NC  28466.
