Temple Matthews Moore, 74, of Ivanhoe passed peacefully from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 2, 1939 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Arthur Wells Matthews and Amanda Reynolds Matthews. Temple was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manly Wardell Moore and brothers, James Matthews and Charles Matthews.

Temple is survived by her son and caregiver, Doug Moore of the home; daughter, Phyllis Hubbard of Wilmington; grandson, E. J. Hubbard (Kristina); great grandchildren, Gavin and Ashlyn; many nieces, nephews and extended family, all who loved Temple.

She was a faithful and active member of Shiloh Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

Temple graced this world as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She created a home for her family filled with love, laughter and joy. Temple was a friend to many; a strong, yet gentle presence to all who were blessed to know her. Always with a smile on her face, a hand stretched out to help others, and a heart showing the love of Christ within her. Cherished memories of her life well lived will remain on our hearts.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
