Teresa Scruggs Murray, 52, a Christian, a child of God was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. She spent Christmas doing the things she loved most, praising the Lord and being with her beloved family.

She was born September 27, 1961 in Farmville, VA, the daughter of Agnes Cook Scruggs of Burgaw and the late Boyd E. Scruggs.

In addition to her mother Teresa is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kenneth Ray Murray; daughters, Wanda Treto (Tony), Mindy Treto (Michael), Tammy Murray all of Burgaw and Kristin Marshburn (Brandon) of Apex; grandchildren, Braxton, Bailey, Kathryn, Taylor, Abigail and Lilly Treto and Baby Marshburn (due in June); sister, Debee Scruggs (Max Potter); brothers, Wesley Scruggs (Sue), Rodney Scruggs (Beverly) and Steven Scruggs; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Teresa was a faithful member of Burgaw Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she served and shared her talents doing whatever was needed.

Teresa loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of everyone she knew. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Her greatest joy in life was family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. Filled with kindness, compassion, a special glow, and laughter, Teresa welcomed everyone she met into her wide circle of family and friends. Among Teresa's many talents was sewing and an eye for beauty. She was truly a gift to her family and to this world and was love by so many. Teresa leaves us a legacy of love and of faith. Teresa's family is grateful for all acts of kindness and prayers that have given them support during her brief illness and passing. We thank God, our heavenly Father for family and friends and pray His eternal blessing to all.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Burgaw Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Family Life Center with The Rev. Ted Mercer and The Rev. Debbie Murray officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum. Casketbearers will be Larry Rivenbark, Charles Lee, Reuben Murray, Jerry Rivenbark, Tony Tommassetti, and Carl Thigpen, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Steven Paluck and Charlie Batton.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
