Teresa Ann Benton Orr, 62, of Wilmington passed gently from her earthly life Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was known as, loved and affectionately called Sissie by both family and friends.

She was born February 7, 1961 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late William C. Benton and Jo Ann Gainey Rackley.

Teresa is survived by her beloved daughters, Sandy Horrell, Cristina Horrell and Kimberly Orr; grandsons, Darius Bowen and Wyatt Glisson; brother, Billy Benton and his wife, Teresa; special best friend since  4th grade, Ruby Yerby; and many extended family members.

At an early age Teresa moved with her family to Pender County and that is where she grew up and graduated from Pender High School in 1979. After graduating, she married and moved to Texas. There she worked in one of the largest aquariums in Texas and often spoke about the love she had working with exotic fish from around the world. After her brief stay in Texas Sissie returned home to Pender County where she began raising her family. Sissie always enjoyed the simple things in life as she was just a simple lady. No Matter what kind of day Sissie was having she always had a smile on her face and joy in her heart. Today we say goodbye to our Mom, Sister, Nana and a friend to many.  Fond memories of Teresa "Sissie" will be cherished by all that knew and loved her. She will remain in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023 at United Faith Fellowship, 211 S. First Avenue, Atkinson, NC 28421. The Rev. Merrell McKoy will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
