Teri Lynn Sutton, age 68, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

She was born on November 18, 1952 in Greensboro, NC to Norma Jean (May) Chilton and the late Richard Lindsey Chilton.

To know Teri Sutton is to love her. As she has just passed, we must all realize that we've lost a true gem. As an island girl at heart, she quickly revealed to us she loved the sea, boating life, and being with people that had a mentality of fun and relaxation of the soul. Her husband John, who has been residing in Heaven for a bit, would easily call her his Mermaid. She leaves us with her son Matt, whom I will always call my brother, and I am with him and all who adore her in saying that we will never meet a woman like our Teri. Swim, our dear mermaid, as the sea welcomes you. Fly high, as well, as Heaven has probably never seen a more perfect mermaid angel.

In addition to her mother, Teri is survived by her son, Matt Sutton; brother, Chris Chilton and wife, Theresa; and sister, Kim Howell and husband, Randy.

Teri was preceded in death by her husband, John Sutton.

A memorial service will be held at The Bridge Church, 2101 Market Street in Wilmington, on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 3pm with Pastor Cindy Higgins officiating.
