Baird
Dec 30, 1947 — Jan 8, 2024
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Terry Baird, a beloved patriarch of the family, who peacefully departed from this life on January 8, 2024. Born on December 30, 1947, Terry's impactful life spanned over 76 rich years. Terry is survived by his loving wife, Agnes Baird; his children, Renee Clayton, Cameron Baird, and Melissa Tusing; a strong line of grandchildren, namely Brittany Collins, Kaitlyn Toler, Carissa Tusing, Aubrey Clayton, Brandon Clayton, Paxton Tusing, and Skylar Baird. He is also survived by his sisters, Glenda Moseley and Phyllis Edmonds. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Ella and Sidney Baird, his brother, Sidney Baird, Jr., and his sister, Carolyn Hux.
Terry was an ardent fan of early 90's country music, enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, Law and Order, and NCIS, and would often partake in games of Monopoly and bowling. Known for his strong and stoic demeanor, Terry was also humorous, soft-spoken, patient, selfless, compassionate, and earnest. His teachings emphasized honesty, caring for others, and an open-minded approach to life. Terry loved KitKats, Bojangles fried chicken, caffeine-free Pepsi, and a good cup of coffee. He was an avid cyclist, walked around the neighborhood, and enjoyed fishing, driving, exploring new places, and walking his dog Bentley. He often found solace in the mountains, especially in Alaska, Atlantic City, and at the beach. Locally, Fort Fisher held a special place in his heart.
He was a dedicated family man and a proud veteran who served his country with unwavering devotion. Terry's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and wisdom – he was the essential bond that held the family tightly together. He was a man of distinguished integrity and his memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those he leaves behind. As we mourn Terry's loss, we also celebrate his well-lived life and strive to uphold the virtues he has left us with. His subtle charm, genuine love for others, and a heart brimming with dedication will live perpetually through his children, grandchildren, and countless lives that he touched.
