Obituary

Terry Albert Sevrence, age 93, of Wilmington and formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed peacefully from this earth to his eternal rest on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

He was born July 1, 1917 in Lucas County, Ohio and was the son of the late Dawson and Lena Sevrence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Laura White Sevrence; five brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his sons, Terry (Joan) Sevrence of Wilmington, North Carolina and James R. (Nancy) Sevrence of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Sean (Theresa) Sevrence, Terry M. Sevrence, Angela M. (Dean) Walker and Michelle (Chris) Moses; seven great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Alvin (Mary) White of Toledo, Ohio.

Mr. Sevrence retired from Bunting Brass and Bronze Co. in Toledo, Ohio after working 44 years. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Toledo. During WW II Terry was an Air Warden, standing in a tower all night long on weekends watching for enemy planes.

In his younger years Terry was an active sportsman, playing semi-professional football, winning the Golden Gloves Boxing Championship three years in a row and being an avid golfer. He and Laura loved to travel and had been to almost every state in the continental United States. Terry loved his family, his Lord, and his country. He lived his life to the fullest, taking advantage of every opportunity that came his way and making every dollar stretch and count. To his beloved family Terry leaves a great legacy of love, faith, and the ability to seek new adventures in life.

A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Penderlea Penetcostal Holiness Church, 8348 Penderlea Hwy, Willard, NC 28478, with The Rev. Dean Walker officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Ottawa Hills Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio.
