Texan Ray Strickland, age 74, of Wallace passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on July 26, 1947, in Gastonia, NC; the son of the late Marvin Ray and Minnie Bell Daniels Strickland.

Texan loved America and proudly served his country in the US Air Force until retirement. After Texan retired from the Air Force, he joined the US Army, and served in Special Forces.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his soul mate and love of his life, Anna Casto of Wallace; stepdaughters, Jessica Sauls of Fremont, Betty Whaley of Kenansville; step grandchildren, Kelly Wells and Bobbie Kennedy' step great grandchildren, Camden Casteen, Kelton Wells, Rilynn Wells, Tristanie Kennedy, Killian Kennedy and Gavin Kennedy and numerous extended family and friends that loved Texan dearly.

Texan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, camp, and spend time outside in God's beautiful world.  He loved people and especially children. He was a man with a great sense of humor and a joy to be around.  Texan was a talented guitarist who loved county music. Texan will surely be missed but treasured memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
