Pauline Caddell Knowles, age 79, of St. Helena died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at her home surround by loved ones.
She was born October 18, 1929 in Rockingham and grew up in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Colon and Nettie Garner Caddell. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Geraldine Willetts and Bessie Weiss.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Willie F. Knowles of the home; sons, Robert (Lynn) Knowles of Cary, Wilson (Ann) Knowles of Rocky Point and Ray (Ginger) Knowles of Watha; daughters, Sandra (Lloyd) Harris, Marilyn (Tony) Tomassetti, Kaye Knowles and Rita (David) Nance all of Burgaw; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Emma (C. B.) Jones of Wilmington, Carolyn (Bruce) Evans of Rocky Point, Julie Naylor of Wilmington, Lenora (Bob) Baker of Castle Hayne and Lillie Mae (Tula Ray) Baker of Vass; and many nieces and nephews.
Rev. Pauline Knowles preached the Gospel for 50 years, serving as pastor of the Penderlea Pentecostal Holiness Church in Penderlea for 41 years.
Her family and friends will always remember the radiant glow that Pauline always displayed and the smile that she always delivered as she was a shining light for Jesus.
Rev. Knowles fought a courageous battle with breast cancer. The earthly battle was not conquered, but heavenly victory was won.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 4875 Cora's Grove Rd., Watha, NC 28478.
Following the visitation the funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. at Cora's Grove P.F.W.B. Church with The Rev. Jimmy Whitfield, The Rev. Wiley Clark, The Rev. Jerry Green, and Mr. Robert Knowles officiating.
Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Burgaw Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Knowles and Rev. Dean Walker officiating.
Casketbearers will be Lloyd Harris, Tony Tomassetti, Jamie Tomassetti, David Lane, David Nance, Davy Nance and Chris Nance.
Honorary casketbearers were Deborah's Daughters Lady Clergy and all ministers of the Christian faith.
A special thanks to our family Hospice nurse, Betty Tiernan, Dr. Michael Rallis, Dr. Larry Dashow, members of Cora's Grove P.F.W.B. and Homestead Pentecostal Holiness Churches. Your compassionate care and loving concern will always be remembered.
