Thelma Marie Croom Brown
Thelma Marie Croom Brown, age 78, of Seminole, Florida and formerly of Burgaw, North Carolina died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Kathy Mansfield in Belleair Beach, Florida.
She was born September 20, 1930 at home in Burgaw, the daughter of the late James Thomas Croom and Margie Mae Cottle Croom. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy N. Brown; grandson, James Allen Lewis; brothers, Carl Croom, Harry Croom, James Roy Croom and Russell Croom and sister, Joyce Croom Jennerette.
Mrs. Brown was employed by Carlisle Egg Plant for 17 years. For 20 years Thelma and her husband, Roy, owned and operated Wagon Wheel Antiques in Burgaw. At the age of 17 Thelma joined Friendly Community Church where she was a faithful member for many years and in 1995 she joined Pathways Community Church in Largo, Florida. Her life was spent helping others; caring for the sick and preparing meals for those in need as well as for family and friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She devoted her life to praising the name of the Lord.
Surviving are her devoted family; daughters, Linda Brown Lewis (Jimmy) of Watha, NC and Kathy Brown Mansfield (fiance, Michael Gundolfi) of Belleair Beach, Florida.; son, Roy Linwood Brown (Shirley) of Watha, NC; granddaughters, Tammy Lewis Horne (fiance, Charles Smith and his son, C.T.) of Watha, NC, Jo Ann Kraynick of Clearwater, Florida and Bridget Kraynick Mazzucco (Brett) Seminole, Florida; great grandsons, Nicholas Earl Horne of Watha, NC and Devon Anthony Mazzucco of Seminole, Florida and special friend, Carmen Hunt.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw and at other times will be at the home of Linda and Jimmy Lewis.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Friendly Community Baptist Church in Burgaw with the Rev. Phillip Jones and the Rev. Elbert Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Croom, Joey Williams, Alton Moore, James Thomas Croom, Jimmy Casteen and Brian Moore.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Powell, Marvin Moss, Milton Chadwick and Bobby Watkins.
Memorial gifts may be given to your local Hospice or to the charity of one's choice.
