Thelma Stacy Harrell, 94, of Burgaw, beloved mother, grandmother and friend has left this earth after a long and fruitful life. Sunday, January 25, 2015 Thelma went home to join God's angels and family gone before her.

She was born December 24, 1920 in Perry County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Elhanon and Georgia Pratt Stacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Douglas Harrell and son, Michael Douglas Harrell and his wife, Janice.

Thelma is survived by her daughters, Anita L. Johnson (Donald), Linda Sue Walker (Dallas), and Alice Faye "Cookie" Yarborough (Eddie); twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; sister-in-law, Bessie James and many extended family and friends.

Thelma was a faithful member of Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She served her country proudly in the WAC Detachment of the US Army during WW II.

Thelma was a beautiful light who cast a beacon of love, compassion and genuine kindness to all who crossed her path. She loved and served her Lord, her family and her church for many, many years. Thelma was noted for being a wonderful cook and homemaker. As Thelma grew older and her health began to fail, one thing she never gave up was her daily Bible reading and prayer. Thelma leaves to us a legacy of love, hope and a faithful Christian spirit.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Reverend Dean Walker and the Reverend W. E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be grandsons of Thelma Harrell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10:00 am until hour of the service.
