Thomas "Tommy" Edward Dennis, age 56, of Burgaw died Friday, February 12, 2010 at his home.

He was born October 17, 1953 in Pender County, the son of the late Robert T. Dennis and Annie Wells Dennis. He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas "Ted" E. Dennis, Jr.

Surviving are his sons, Harvey Lee Dennis of Rocky Point, Christopher Alan Dennis of Albemarle and Michael Dennis of Ashville; step-children, Angela Joyce Estep of Wilmington and Regina Michelle Benton of Leland; eight grandchildren; sister, Annie Grace Pridgen of Rocky Point; brothers, Murle Dennis of Concord, Lester Dennis and John Dennis both of Rocky Point; and many nieces and nephews.

Tommy was a loving daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend. His grandchildren were the light of his life. His family was his greatest joy and he loved family gathering which he planned frequently. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and give of his time and talents to his family, friends and even strangers. Being an avid fisherman and hunter Tommy loved being outdoors in God's beautiful world. Cherished memories of Tommy will forever remain in our hearts.

Graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Wells Family Cemetery with the Rev. Butler Anderson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside, 2 to 3 pm on Sunday at the cemetery.
