Obituary

Thomas S. Lazeski, age 53 of Leland, NC formerly of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully Sun. Aug. 3, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter in Wilmington, NC after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma while surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1960 and was a son of the late Gerald Sr. and Patricia Lazeski. Tom was preceded in death by his brother Michael Joseph Lazeski.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Donna Lazeski; sons Matthew Lazeski (Alicia) and Philip Lazeski (Brittany); and siblings Nancy Kirby Kurjakovic, Gerald Lazeski Jr. (Kathy), Karen Olmstead (Skip), Patricia Pinto (Oswaldo), Diane Wieziolowski (John), and Stanley Lazeski; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Tom was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 112 for 31 years before retiring from Southern Tier Custom Fabricators in Elmira, NY in 2011 at which time he and his wife relocated to North Carolina to pursue cancer treatment at Duke University Medical Center as well as enjoy life near the coast. He attended the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC. Tom was a devoted husband and father who greatly enjoyed spending time with loved ones and the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and relaxing at the beach.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Catholic Church 816 W. Broad Street in Horseheads, NY on Aug. 16 at 9:30am followed by a remembrance gathering in the church gymnasium.
