Obituary

Thomas "Spunky" Hargrove Wallace, 67, of Atkinson passed from his earthly life on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Duke University Hospital with family surrounding him with love.

He was born November 12, 1946 in Wilmington, the son of Annie Mae Hargrove Wallace and the late Tommy Wallace.

In addition to his mother Thomas is survived by his wife, Linda Simpson Wallace; son, Jacob Matthew Wallace (Carey); step-daughters, Brandi Bingham Wagner (David), Jamie Bingham Wood and Misty Leigh Bingham; grandchildren, Hannah Kelly Wallace, Sidney Grace Wagner, Ainslee Grace Wagner, Lilly Grace Wagner and Jack Taylor Wood; sister, Anita W. Moore (Willis); brother, Jessie "Snooky" Wallace (Linda); special nephew, Michael Moore (Sham); nieces, Tina and Tonya; and great nieces, Christina and Jessica.

Thomas served his country honorably for 22 years in the US Navy, retiring as Chief Hospital Corpsman. He was a member of Caswell Presbyterian Church.

Thomas loved his family above all else and he was a steadfast friend to many. One of his passions in life was God's great outdoors and the time he spent on nature walks and his photography of God's plants, trees, rivers and animals. Spunky possessed a keen intellect, sharp wit and an engaging personality. Amongst the legacies that Thomas leaves are the importance of God, Family and Country.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Caswell Presbyterian Church with CRE Randa Scott and The Rev. William Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Woodcock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the church at 10:00 a.m. until hour of the service.
