Thomas Ray Blake, 79, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

He was born on January 9, 1947, in Wilmington to the late Harry and Myrtle Sloop Blake.

Tommy, a pipefitter and plumber, proudly served his country as a SGT in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family gatherings at the holidays and vacations. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tommy will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Faye Blake; his sons, Michael Blake, Dennis Blake, Steven Blake; his brother, Jimmy Blake (Connie); his grandchildren, Lahana Blake-Tucker, Alex Blake (Bryanna), Gage Green, Blake Toler (Ethan), Madison Toler; his great grandchildren, Makenna Isom, Elizah Isom; and a host of other family members and friends.

His funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington with the US Army performing military honors.
