Thyra Louise Mangan, 80, of Wilmington, formerly of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

She was born on November 11, 1940, in Hancock, MI, to the late Alfield and Inez (Throndson) Franzen.

Thrya, an avid tennis player, enjoyed reading, gardening and travelling. Along with her husband, Joe, they travelled to see many tennis matches including the US Open, Wimbledon, and the French Open. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved running her household and raising her three daughters.

Thyra is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph William Mangan; daughters, Kirsten Martenson and husband, Thomas, Laura Goldfine and husband, Howard, Linda Arts and husband, Peter; brother, Carl Franzen; grandchildren, Sage, Tyger, Charles, Eloise, Patrick and Grace.

In addition to her parents, Thyra was also preceded in death by her sisters, Joanne Grueskin, Esme Kepple, and Nancy Liechty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Thyra's honor to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org .
