Ennis
Aug 10, 1970 — Apr 4, 2022
Timothy Wayne Ennis, 51, of Wilmington passed from his earthly life Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home.
He was born on August 10, 1970 in Wilmington, NC to Marshall Wayne Ennis and Mae Arlene Higgins Ennis. He was predeceased by his sister Marsha Carol Ennis and brother David Paul Ennis, a local attorney at law.
Timothy is survived by his parents; sister Janine Ennis Polera and her husband James; brother Kevin Ennis and his wife Michelle; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Tim was a wonderful son and brother who loved his family. He was an avid car enthusiast and owned several sports cars over his lifetime. He enjoyed driving especially if it involved fast cars and racing. He was a lifetime Carolina Tarheel fan and enjoyed watching his favorite basketball team play. He played several sports in his youth, but basketball was always his favorite.
Prior to his illness, Tim was outgoing, always stayed physically fit and for a period of time, worked as a personal fitness trainer. He also enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and shooting. He was an excellent marksman and was even awarded an Expert Pistol Ribbon in the military.
Tim served his country honorably in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Gulf War. In the service, he was assigned to a nuclear submarine where he was instrumental in maintaining and working on equipment including oxygen generators and the diesel engines. While in the service, he was awarded a National Defense Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal. When he returned to civilian life, he spent most of his career working in the industrial field and as a consultant for nuclear companies in several states.
Tim was dearly loved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed. His family are grateful for the time they had to spend with him as coped with the challenges of his illness. They would like to thank all those that sent cards and inquired about his health. The love and support of family and friends cannot be measured, and neither can the gratitude that they would like to express.
Tim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 in the Latter-Day Saint Cemetery, NC Hwy 210, Hampstead, NC 28443. Bishop Kevin Hoffman will conduct the service.
