Timothy "Mr. Timmy" Ray
Evans
Sep 4, 1959 — Dec 3, 2020
Timmy Evans, 61, left a void in the hearts of many as he departed this earth to rest with his Savior on Thursday evening, December 3, 2020. Timmy was born in Duplin County to Oliver "Wendell" Evans Sr. and to Annie Laurie Rivenbark Evans on September 4, 1959.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 38 years, Trilby Phillips Evans of the home; sons, Timothy Ray Evans, II of Warsaw and John Oliver Evans and wife, Pamela of Goldsboro; grandchildren, John Luke Evans and Reid Langdon Evans; brothers, Oliver Wendell Evans, Jr. and wife, Suzanne of Magnolia; sisters, Beverly Evans of Austin Texas and Angie Evans Carter and husband, Newton of Kenansville; niece, Anna Laurie Carter and numerous extended family and friends that loved Timmy dearly.
Timmy grew up on a farm outside of Magnolia where he was the third oldest to four other siblings. At a young age Timmy had a large personality, his brother and sisters would typically be on the receiving end of such humor. From his early beings his love for family was strong, and as he started his own family his roots grew only deeper.
A match from Heaven occurred when Timmy and Trilby met each other at Johnson Baptist Church in Warsaw at the age of 12 years old. Timmy would always tell people when asked how long he and Trilby had been together, he'd proudly state " I gave her a present for her 13th birthday and haven't missed one since." They married on January 10, 1982. From that moment on they were inseparable and where you saw Timmy, Trilby was close by. Timmy was a devoted husband keeping his wife on a pedestal and adoring the ground she walked. After 3 years of marriage their first child was born, Timothy Ray Evans II and after another 4 years were blessed with their youngest son John Oliver Evans.
Growing up on a working farm, everyone had to pull their own weight and contribute. Timmy knew living the farm life was not for him and he then went to work with his uncle, Harold Evans of Wallace in his jewelry store. It was there his love for working with people and helping others was born. Timmy opened his first jewelry store in Clinton at the early age of 18. After working in the jewelry business for 30 years he started working in real estate, and continued to build lasting relationships with others and helped his clients find a house they could make a home.
Proud to serve his community he was a member of many organizations from the Rotary Club, FreeMason, numerous conservation organizations, countless other charities, and numerous individuals who were in need. Timmy would hold toy drives at his business and promote others to support those who were less fortunate. He played a role in organizing many BBQ fundraisers for people he knew and others he did not. Timmy had a heart of gold and looked for opportunities where he could help and serve others.
Timmy was a family man, not only did he love, care and provide for his wife and children, he was present in their lives. He was at ball games, recitals, fishing trips, hunting trips, catering events and any other endeavor his children were involved in. Timmy loved and cared for his wife dearly and her wishes were of the utmost importance to him. As proud as he was of his wife and sons, Timmy would glow brighter than any Fall sunset when he spoke of his twin grandsons, Luke and Reid Evans. He cherished the name "Papa", spending all the time he could baking their favorite cookie, cake or doing just anything they wanted. Timmy enjoyed spoiling his Grandchildren often calling it a "Papa privilege" as he would laugh and smile. But you did not have to be his family by blood to feel his love. To know Timmy was to be loved by him. Timmy had many relationships with individuals and families. Some of these "families" shared the same love for cooking and would travel the state to find the perfectly cooked BBQ pig, while other "families" shared their talents of carving decoys of wood. It was not blood that brought him and others together, it was love. Timmy will surely be missed but wonderful memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved Timmy.
