Tommy Walter Keys, age 67, of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born December 9, 1948 in Ogden, Utah the son of the late Augustus Walter Keys and Jimmie Anderson Keys.

Tommy was employed with International Paper and had recently retired after a long career.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather that had earned the nickname "Pop Pop" for his great sense of humor and fun antics. Tommy enjoyed being out in his garden growing vegetables, listening to folk style music and Bob Dylan, was an ACC Basketball fan in addition to "Go Braves" and loved spending time with his best friend and wife, Tina.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Sabrina "Tina" Keys; three daughters, Jennifer Keys (Richard Shepherd), Kim Keys "K.C." Hayes (Lawrence) and Kelly Keys (Eric Smiarowski); three grandchildren, Oliver Hayes, Sophia Smiarowski and Olivia Smiarowski; brother, Ronald Keys; sister, Debbie Keys Cox (Knight); canine best friend, Sassy; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 PM until 6 PM Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington.

The family wishes to thank Dr. William McNulty, Dr. Brian Donner, Dr. Allen Jones and the staff of New Hanover Regional Medical Center for their excellent care of Tommy during his illness.
